B-I-N-G-O!

Start the School Year with BINGO! - 9/22/2010

Start the school year the right way - with BINGO! We will be hosting the first bingo night of our scholarship year on Wednesday, September 22nd in the school cafeteria. Doors open at 7pm, first game starts at 7:30. $20 to get in includes food (meatball hoagies!) and 2 cards that you can play all night. Extra cards for the night are $5 and there are 'specials'. This will be a 50-50 prize night, meaning that half of the money collected from admission and card sales will be used as prizes. So, the more folks that come, the bigger the pot. There will be extra food and drinks to purchase too. The other half that is collected will go towards our annual scholarship program. We're hoping for another great turnout so that we can be very generous to more college bound high school students. Please plan to come and play so that our high school seniors can be the big winners!

Blood Drive on August 1st

We are currently organizing a blood drive at St. Ann's Church Cafeteria, which will take place on Sunday August 1st from 9am to 2pm. Our area is always in need of donated blood. We hope to have a tremendous response from our parishoners who are willing to roll up their sleves and donate. There is no substitute for human blood and so the only source for the people who need it - is YOU.  Please donate if you can. Visit www.giveapint.org/donate/facts for some interesting facts about blood donation. For more information or to make an appointment, go to the 'Contact Us' page and leave us a confidential message or call us at 484-519-0562 A Knight from our council will get in touch with you. Thank you!

Proposition 8 in California - UPHELD!
HearYeFrom The NetBy Knight Blogger on5/26/2009 2:42 PM

Proposition 8, a CA  voter approved state constitutional amendment that protected the definition of marriage as between 1 man and 1 woman, had been challenged in CA Supreme court by pro-same-sex marriage groups. They had alleged that it violated equal protection and sought to overturn the measure, despite the majority voter approval. The CA Supreme Court today has upheld the validity of Proposition 8. Memorial Day History
HearYeFrom The NetBy Knight Blogger on5/22/2009 2:32 PM

Here's a brief history of the Memorial Day holiday, that I found quite interesting:

After the bloody war between the States, citizens of the North and the South felt a need to honor those fallen in the war. On various days people from different communities would place flowers at the graves of those they wished to honor. The day came to be known as Decoration Day. By 1868, the northern states were keeping the day on May 30.

In 1882, the day was renamed Memoria ...

Memorial Day Weekend - 2009
HearYeFrom The NetBy Knight Blogger on5/22/2009 2:31 PM

Here we are on the leading edge of Memorial Day Weekend. Most folks view this time as a day off from work, the opening of pools, and the unofficial start of the summer season.  However, there is a very important aspect to this holiday that we seldom take the time to think about. It is a day, set aside in our country, to remember those in our military that died in service to others. Please remember in prayer and deed, all of our brave men and women that have falle ...

Marriage Protection in Pennsylvania - What You Can Do
HearYeFrom The NetBy Knight Blogger on5/20/2009 11:42 AM

The previous blog post told you of what the PA legislators are doing to support Marriage Protection in PA. If you are asking, "well, now what?", the answer is simple. Write to your state rep and senator urging them to vote in favor of marriage protection - ie. one man, one woman. Tell them that by protecting the sanctity of marriage, it will contribute to the procreation of children, strengthening of   ...
