Help Simon!

Simon's Saturday 2/18/2012

Simon is a 2nd grade student at St. Ann's School. He's been fighting leukemia for most of his life and wil be undergoing a bone marrow transplant on February 9th. There are many children and adults who also need this life saving transplant - anyone of them could be your child, sibling, parent or friend. So, let's celebrate Simon and his fight by getting swabbed. February 18th will be a bone marrow donor drive. A quick cheek swab and you will be entered into the donor database. It's fast, easy and saves lives. Please click here for a copy of the flyer with more information. You can also search for "Simon's Saturday - Bone Marrow Drive" on Facebook, or call Kelly Sisonick at 484-347-7258 or email her at kelly.sisonick@parentebeard.com. Please help if you can. Everyone deserves a chance at life.

Up above, we posted a summary of the origin of Veterans Day. But we'd be remiss if we didn't specifically thank those in our council that served. To all our veterans, your service and sacrifice are appreciated more than we can ever express. We are grateful to have you in our council and humbled to call you "Brother Knights".

It is an important topic as it affects everyone in our country medically and financially. Pennsylvania's Catholic Bishops recently discussed this hot topic. The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference web site covered this story and you can see it by clicking here.

While the debate over health care reform rages on (what is it, who gets it, who pays for it), Cardinal Rigali wrote on July 29 to the members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee urging them to amend “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act” (H.R. 3200) to retain longstanding government policies on abortion and conscience rights.

Father's Day is Sunday June 21st.  If you're a Dad, give yourself a free gift and visit www.fathersforgood.org.  Fathers For Good is a wonderful website for dads that want to be better fathers and husbands. It's full of useful resources, tools, encouragement, and advice - all free!  In today's modern culture, the role of dads is misunderstood and often mocked. The material in this website is the antidote to all that. It's also got whole sections on fathers and spirituality,...
