Blessed Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

The officers of this council would like to wish everyone a very Happy, Healthy and Blessed Christmas!

In your prayers, please remember those who are having a difficult time in this economic crisis, folks that lost jobs, our service men and women that are separated from their families while protecting us; remember the sick and elderly that may be alone. Please reach out to these members of our community and give them something a special gift - your friendship!

If you are able to, please consider donating non-perishable food items to our food collection stations in the church. The needy rely on your thoughfulness and generousity.

"Loving God, Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate
and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen."

-- Robert Louis Stevenson

 Come Sing With Us

Keep Christ in Christmas Celebration

The 2nd annual blessing of parish outdoor Nativity and evergreen tree sponsored by St. Ann’s Knights of Columbus on Monday, December 15th at 6:15 PM. We will gather in the school cafeteria and then process to the tree and the outdoor Nativity devotion with Monsignor Mraz and Father Dominic. All are invited; join us for fun, Christmas carols and refreshments following the gathering.

Postponed - Knights of Columbus Membership Drive

The Knights of Columbus will be holding an information session after one of the Sunday masses, just not in October as originally planned, as part of their annual membership drive.  This will be a great opportunity to learn of the many benefits of joining this outstanding fraternal organization.  For more information, check the bulletin, watch this space, or go to the 'Contact Us' page and call or email.  There are some outstanding links to the left regarding joining our order, and you can also review this pamphlet to learn more about us.  We appreciate your patience.

Abortion Industry Bailout?
From The NetBy Knight Blogger on12/22/2008 3:58 PM

I missed this one in the main media outlets. Apparently the various forces selling abortion services are looking for their bailout too - click here for more from the Catholic News Agency. The Susan B. Anthony List has a ...

Let's Say Thanks
From The NetBy Knight Blogger on12/22/2008 3:41 PM

In the Christmas message posted further above, you are asked to also remember our service men and women who won't be home this Christmas. Last year, we posted a notice about a free service from Xerox called "Let's Say Thanks". Using their website (http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1280.html) you can type up a message in a card that they will print and give to

More Challenges to Prop 8
From The NetBy Knight Blogger on12/22/2008 3:40 PM

You're probably all aware of Prop * in California - the recent ballot initiative in that state to formally define in their constitution that marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. As a sidenote, it was approved by a majority of the CA voting public and yet is still being challenged.  Here's an interesting piece on the legislation by Willia ...

Education Assistance for the Unemployed
From The NetBy Knight Blogger on12/12/2008 2:40 PM

Recently, there has been some news that Lehigh Carbon Community College, and Northampton Community College are offering free tuition - up to 12 credits to residents of the counties they serve who have lost their jobs due to the economy.

Just today Bucks Community College has joined LCCC and NCC in offering a similar tuituion deal to the residents of the counties they serve, except they offer 30 free credits.

This is  a great opportunity, for those so ...

Shopping Tips
From The NetBy Knight Blogger on12/12/2008 2:07 PM

It's December 12th, counting today, there are only 13 more shopping days until Christmas. I've seen the frenzied eyes of dozens upon dozens of shoppers walking zombie like through the stores with more packages than a Fed-Ex truck. You'd hardly know that there's a recession going on. Unfortunately, many of those shoppers are probably digging themselves into debt. The Federal Trade Commission has posted some great tips for managing to keep the 'season of giving' within budget.

Online and Shopping Safety
From The NetBy Knight Blogger on12/12/2008 1:58 PM

This time of year brings a significant rise in the number emails, animated cards, attachments, games, chain letters, jokes, and video links. Additionally, some messages may be identity theft scams, or contain malicious links or attachments. Please exercise caution when opening your email and clicking on any links that are included. If you aren't 100% sure about the sender, it's better to disregard the email than to risk infecting your computer or having personal financial data stolen from it.

 Double Star! Minimize

Double
Star
Council ...
Again!

Kudos to Council 12886 for achieving double star status for the second year in a row! Double Star is a very prestigeous award which rewards our efforts in recruiting, insurance membership and conducting parish/community programs. Last year, we were only one of fifteen councils in PA to reach that goal. This year the number of councils is smaller - only 12. There are over 500 councils in PA, so this is quite an achievement. This award is not only a reflection of the council, but a reflection of our parish, so we'd like to thank those men of our parish that wanted to enhance their lives by joining the Knights of Columbus. A very special thank you also goes out to their families for sharing their men with us for the greater good of the community of St. Ann's Parish.
