Start the School Year with BINGO! - 9/22/2010Start the school year the right way - with BINGO! We will be hosting the first bingo night of our scholarship year on Wednesday, September 22nd in the school cafeteria. Doors open at 7pm, first game starts at 7:30. $20 to get in includes food (meatball hoagies!) and 2 cards that you can play all night. Extra cards for the night are $5 and there are 'specials'. This will be a 50-50 prize night, meaning that half of the money collected from admission and card sales will be used as prizes. So, the more folks that come, the bigger the pot. There will be extra food and drinks to purchase too. The other half that is collected will go towards our annual scholarship program. We're hoping for another great turnout so that we can be very generous to more college bound high school students. Please plan to come and play so that our high school seniors can be the big winners!

Blood Drive on August 1st
We are currently organizing a blood drive at St. Ann's Church Cafeteria, which will take place on Sunday August 1st from 9am to 2pm. Our area is always in need of donated blood. We hope to have a tremendous response from our parishoners who are willing to roll up their sleves and donate. There is no substitute for human blood and so the only source for the people who need it - is YOU. Please donate if you can. Visit www.giveapint.org/donate/facts for some interesting facts about blood donation. For more information or to make an appointment, go to the 'Contact Us' page and leave us a confidential message or call us at 484-519-0562 A Knight from our council will get in touch with you. Thank you!

This is from an email that must have been circulating a while. It's a piece from ABC News back in Feb 2007 called "Person of the Week". They spotlighted Bert Brady, who tells a heartwarming story of support of our troops. You can read the interview here and watch the video from YouTube here. While the story is a little on the old side, the message is valuable. One person and one kind act can make the difference to a whole bunch of people. Enjoy. ... | By Knight Blogger on 11/24/2008 4:32 PM
The weather the past few days has been rather chilly and is a reminder that the very cold days of the winter are not too far off. While surfing for some other info, I came across these excellent cold weather safety tips and reminders.
Clean or change your furnace filter as the cold weather approaches. You should have your heating system inspected or serviced once a year for safety, longer life and better performance.
Install programmable thermostats on heaters and timers on lamps two additional... | By Knight Blogger on 11/24/2008 11:51 AM
This isn't really from "The Net", but I wanted to thank everyone that came to the Spaghetti Dinner on 11/15 and those that came on 11/22 for the Blood Drive. Your participation in these events is truely appreciated. Also a "Thanks" to the organizers and helpers too.

You may have seen inserts in your Sunday bulletin regarding "Faithful Citizenship". The complete document from the USCCB (US Conference of Catholic Bishops) can be found by clicking here. There's also a website www.faithfulcitizenship.org which has a wealth of resources for all Catholics as well as Parish & School Leaders, Diocesan & Community Leaders, and very importantly, young Catholics. Please visit their site and pass along their link to your friends to educate them about the Catholic view of... | By Knight Blogger on 10/29/2008 2:40 PM
Cardinal Egan, of New York, had published a very thought provoking article regarding the beginning of life debate. From his letter:
"If there is a time when something less than a human being in a mother morphs into a human being, it is not a time that anyone has ever been able to identify, though many have made guesses. However, guesses are of no help. A man with a shotgun who decides to shoot a being that he believes may be a human being is properly hauled before a judge. And hopefully, the judge in... | By Knight Blogger on 10/24/2008 11:00 AM
Are you prepared for the headlines Nov. 5?
“Abortion Issue Irrelevant”
“Values Voters Stay Home”
“Culture War Lost”
We can’t let this happen. Less than two weeks from today, Americans will go to the polls to vote in perhaps the most important election of our lifetime. So much is at stake. We simply cannot afford to sit on the sidelines at this 11th hour.
Visit www.catholicvote.com and see how you can help get out the message of how important... | By Knight Blogger on 9/29/2008 9:23 AM
When Knight Blogger posted the earlier blog entry about the importance of the Catholic vote, he didn't realize the video was part of a bigger picture. The video is from www.catholicvote.com. Besides the video (a must see), the site has some excellent articles and posts to reflect on while contemplating your election day decision. Remember - Vote Pro-Life.

A 30-second radio spot encouraging people to “vote pro-life” in the November elections began running on radio stations around the United States Sept. 23 It will continue to air until the Nov. 4 election.
The ad features the sound of an unborn baby’s heartbeat at 10 weeks, and the voice of a woman saying, “Listening to this makes me wonder – why would anyone question that her life has begun?” It concludes with the words, “Vote your heart. Vote Pro Life.”
“The fact that the child whose heartbeat... |
