Start the School Year with BINGO! - 9/22/2010Start the school year the right way - with BINGO! We will be hosting the first bingo night of our scholarship year on Wednesday, September 22nd in the school cafeteria. Doors open at 7pm, first game starts at 7:30. $20 to get in includes food (meatball hoagies!) and 2 cards that you can play all night. Extra cards for the night are $5 and there are 'specials'. This will be a 50-50 prize night, meaning that half of the money collected from admission and card sales will be used as prizes. So, the more folks that come, the bigger the pot. There will be extra food and drinks to purchase too. The other half that is collected will go towards our annual scholarship program. We're hoping for another great turnout so that we can be very generous to more college bound high school students. Please plan to come and play so that our high school seniors can be the big winners!

Blood Drive on August 1st
We are currently organizing a blood drive at St. Ann's Church Cafeteria, which will take place on Sunday August 1st from 9am to 2pm. Our area is always in need of donated blood. We hope to have a tremendous response from our parishoners who are willing to roll up their sleves and donate. There is no substitute for human blood and so the only source for the people who need it - is YOU. Please donate if you can. Visit www.giveapint.org/donate/facts for some interesting facts about blood donation. For more information or to make an appointment, go to the 'Contact Us' page and leave us a confidential message or call us at 484-519-0562 A Knight from our council will get in touch with you. Thank you!

On Capital Hill, our politicians are feverishly working towards hammering out a bill to overhaul the nation's health care system. We have to emphasize that as Catholics, we can not support a bill that has any provision that promotes or subsidizes elective abortions. Please use the links above to the left and call your local representative. Be polite, but be firm in explaining that you oppose a final bill which includes such provisions. Emails are great, but phone calls do seem to make more of an impact. This... | By Knight Blogger on 12/23/2009 1:49 PM
My inbox has been getting crowded with emails regarding the health care bill. Of particular discussion at present has been its connection to abortion funding through subsidies and other shell games played with our tax dollars.
The Catholic Church is perfectly clear on this matter. Click here to read Cardinal Rigali's comments regarding Catholic members of congress and their support of health care reform.

Up above, we posted a summary of the origin of Veterans Day. But we'd be remiss if we didn't specifically thank those in our council that served. To all our veterans, your service and sacrifice are appreciated more than we can ever express. We are grateful to have you in our council and humbled to call you "Brother Knights".

You can't turn on the news anymore without hearing the words 'heath care reform', followed by lots of conflicting information, yea's, nay's, cheers and jeers. It is an important topic as it affects everyone in our country medically and financially. Pennsylvania's Catholic Bishops recently discussed this hot topic. The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference web site covered this story and you can see it by clicking here. ... | By Knight Blogger on 8/3/2009 8:01 PM
While the debate over health care reform rages on (what is it, who gets it, who pays for it), Cardinal Rigali wrote on July 29 to the members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee urging them to amend “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act” (H.R. 3200) to retain longstanding government policies on abortion and conscience rights.

Father's Day is Sunday June 21st. If you're a Dad, give yourself a free gift and visit www.fathersforgood.org. Fathers For Good is a wonderful website for dads that want to be better fathers and husbands. It's full of useful resources, tools, encouragement, and advice - all free! In today's modern culture, the role of dads is misunderstood and often mocked. The material in this website is the antidote to all that. It's also got whole sections on fathers and spirituality,... | By Knight Blogger on 6/10/2009 12:10 PM
The PCC Institue for Public Policy website contains some great information regarding the Catholic perspective on public policy issues in the headlines. Go to www.pacatholic.org to access their material on education, religious liberty, health care and more! Please pass this website address on to your friends as they'll also find it informative.
