Help Simon!

Simon's Saturday 2/18/2012

Simon is a 2nd grade student at St. Ann's School. He's been fighting leukemia for most of his life and wil be undergoing a bone marrow transplant on February 9th. There are many children and adults who also need this life saving transplant - anyone of them could be your child, sibling, parent or friend. So, let's celebrate Simon and his fight by getting swabbed. February 18th will be a bone marrow donor drive. A quick cheek swab and you will be entered into the donor database. It's fast, easy and saves lives. Please click here for a copy of the flyer with more information. You can also search for "Simon's Saturday - Bone Marrow Drive" on Facebook, or call Kelly Sisonick at 484-347-7258 or email her at kelly.sisonick@parentebeard.com. Please help if you can. Everyone deserves a chance at life.

We get so many emails with lot's of interesting news, we thought we should share some with the community. The topics are broad and these posts are in no special grouping or order. Read and enjoy. Use the 'Blog Archive' calendar to view more than just this list of the most recent 8 posts.

This is from an email that must have been circulating a while. It's a piece from ABC News back in Feb 2007 called "Person of the Week". They spotlighted Bert Brady, who tells a heartwarming story of support of our troops. You can read the interview here and watch the video from YouTube here. While the story is a little on the old side, the message is valuable. One person and one kind act can make the difference to a whole bunch of people. Enjoy.

The weather the past few days has been rather chilly and is a reminder that the very cold days of the winter are not too far off. While surfing for some other info, I came across these excellent cold weather safety tips and reminders.

Clean or change your furnace filter as the cold weather approaches. You should have your heating system inspected or serviced once a year for safety, longer life and better performance. Install programmable thermostats on heaters and timers on lamps two additional...

This isn't really from "The Net", but I wanted to thank everyone that came to the Spaghetti Dinner on 11/15 and those that came on 11/22 for the Blood Drive. Your participation in these events is truely appreciated. Also a "Thanks" to the organizers and helpers too.

You may have seen inserts in your Sunday bulletin regarding "Faithful Citizenship".  The complete document from the USCCB (US Conference of Catholic Bishops) can be found by clicking here.  There's also a website www.faithfulcitizenship.org which has a wealth of resources for all Catholics as well as Parish & School Leaders, Diocesan & Community Leaders, and very importantly, young Catholics.  Please visit their site and pass along their link to your friends to educate them about the Catholic view of...

Cardinal Egan, of New York, had published a very thought provoking article regarding the beginning of life debate. From his letter:

"If there is a time when something less than a human being in a mother morphs into a human being, it is not a time that anyone has ever been able to identify, though many have made guesses. However, guesses are of no help. A man with a shotgun who decides to shoot a being that he believes may be a human being is properly hauled before a judge. And hopefully, the judge in...

Are you prepared for the headlines Nov. 5?

“Abortion Issue Irrelevant”  “Values Voters Stay Home” “Culture War Lost”

We can’t let this happen. Less than two weeks from today, Americans will go to the polls to vote in perhaps the most important election of our lifetime. So much is at stake. We simply cannot afford to sit on the sidelines at this 11th hour.

Visit www.catholicvote.com and see how you can help get out the message of how important...
