Tuesday is primary day here in PA. Please try to make it to the polls. Also, consider those issues that are near and dear to our hearts as Catholics and cast your vote for the person that will actively uphold those same values. More About Health Care Reform

On Capital Hill, our politicians are feverishly working towards hammering out a bill to overhaul the nation's health care system. We have to emphasize that as Catholics, we can not support a bill that has any provision that promotes or subsidizes elective abortions. Please use the links above to the left and call your local representative. Be polite, but be firm in explaining that you oppose a final bill which includes such provisions. Emails are great, but phone calls do seem to make more of an impact. This has nothing to do with political parties, or left vs right. It does have to do with right vs wrong - our utmost support for the dignity and respect for life at any stage. Health Care Reform Bill

My inbox has been getting crowded with emails regarding the health care bill. Of particular discussion at present has been its connection to abortion funding through subsidies and other shell games played with our tax dollars.

The Catholic Church is perfectly clear on this matter. Click here to read Cardinal Rigali's comments regarding Catholic members of congress and their support of health care reform.

There are some members that have stood up for pro-life principles. Click on this link to read about a Knight of Columbus in congress and his pro-life stand.

Sadly, there are those that are not as firm in their beliefs. Here's a link about a PA senator who has not risen to the challenge.

We must remain active and strong Catholics. Click here to open a list of senators and congressmen that you should call and express your beliefs that there should be no taxpayer funding of abortions whether direct or indirect.

You can't turn on the news anymore without hearing the words 'heath care reform', followed by lots of conflicting information, yea's, nay's, cheers and jeers. It is an important topic as it affects everyone in our country medically and financially. Pennsylvania's Catholic Bishops recently discussed this hot topic. Cardinal Rigali Urges House Committee to Support Pro-Life Amendments to Health Care Reform Bill

While the debate over health care reform rages on (what is it, who gets it, who pays for it), Cardinal Rigali wrote on July 29 to the members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee urging them to amend “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act” (H.R. 3200) to retain longstanding government policies on abortion and conscience rights.
