DESCRIPTION:Miller-Keystone Blood Center and the Diocese of Allentown are teaming up to host a diocese-wide blood drive in honor of Saint Januarius\, the patron saint of blood banks. Parishioners are encouraged to donate blood at one of MKBC’s donor centers beginning on the Feast Day of Saint Januarius\, September 19th\, through December 16th\, one of the miracle dates of his blood liquification. In addition to saving lives\, all donors who provide their parish’s Sponsor Code at the time of their appointment will receive a Saint Januarius medallion\, blessed by Bishop Schlert. We will also have prayer cards available for those donors who already have a medallion from last year and would prefer a prayer card instead. Their numbers have dwindled down to four elderly nuns plus four caretaker nuns from the Philippines. Because they are a cloistered order\, meaning they never leave the monastery\, they have few resources. Their supporters and donors are also generally elderly and dwindling. These holy women are in dire need of food and household supplies. \n\n\n\nTherefore the Knights are holding a Food Drive for the nuns on Saturday\, May 21\, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Parish Life Center on Fairview Street\, Emmaus. Please drop off non-perishable food and household supplies between those hours. The Knights will box your donations and deliver them to the monastery. \n\n\n\nITEMS TO DONATE: The nuns lead simple lives therefore no spicy food and no caffeine please.
