St. Ann’s Knights of Columbus Garden of Mercy
What is the Garden of Mercy?
The Garden of Mercy was established in 2016 at rented sites in Lower Macungie. We had rented one plot and managed to provide about 800 pounds of produce. Another partner (Plant a Row) also was started in the Lehigh Valley at the same time. Plant a Row made their first pickup at St Ann’s Garden of Mercy. We have worked together since then with ever increasing volume of produce being grown to help those in need. We had moved the garden to the church grounds in 2021. An Eagle Scout project by Supreeth Dmello enabled a fence to be built around our plot which is 56 feet by 52 feet. Many hands have helped with the project. Debbie Cordes and her team planted flowers around the garden, St. Ann’s Troop 80 also assisted the Knights of Columbus. Other parish members helped by making a backhoe available, helping to layout the plot and other tasks too numerous to mention. All produce will benefit the New Bethany Ministries this year.
Helping hands needed!
We are in need of volunteers to help with the weeding and watering. Contact Sean McDonnell via email at sjmcdonn@gmail.com if you’d like to join us.
Donate your excess produce!
The Garden will accept any excess produce from home gardens if brought to the Garden between 8 AM and 12 PM each Saturday during the growing season. Please place your produce in the green cooler.
